Good morning, it's October 13th, 2026, and this is Rails Daily.

Today's work centers on resilience when processes, connections, and workers fail under load.

First, shutdown and reconnect paths are being hardened. PR 59038 fixes parallel test shutdown when a round-robin worker dies with queued tests, by closing the distributor first, waiting for real worker processes including unregistered ones, then reporting unfinished work through the existing missing-result path so…

Second, composite keys get follow-up fixes. PR 59040, now merged, fixes disable joins through associations with a composite owner foreign key for sharded multi-tenant schemas, extending an earlier fix on the loading side. PR 59041 fixes query constraints on abstract classes, where reading the constraints list tried…

Third, cache version performance gets attention in two PRs, 59047 and 59048, removing a connection checkout just to read time zone settings on SQLite, and avoiding slow timestamp formatting on Postgres, MySQL and Trilogy where every call paid for UTC conversion.

Separately, Active Support gains an internal weak set API in PR 59039, and documentation cleanup continues with RDoc to Markdown conversions across…
