Good morning, it’s Tuesday, October 13th, 2026. You’re listening to Home Assistant Daily.

Our lead story is a coordinated fix for climate state restoration. Five integrations were correcting the same bug: restored temperatures were converted from the current system unit instead of the saved unit.

That matters because if you changed units or restarted with different settings, your thermostat could come back with the wrong target temperature. SwitchBot Cloud in P R 185992 and Shelly in P R 185979 are two examples, with the same pattern also applied to Modbus, generic thermostat, and Teslemetry.

Second theme is reliability around reloads and startups. A fix in P R 185998 stops M Q T T device triggers and tags from firing twice after a config entry reload, after discovery left a stale auto-trigger behind. Separately, P R 185940 stops cutting off the K N X telegram store initialization with a timeout, which…

Third, tighter control and core hygiene. P R 185959 adds a read-only option to the M C P server, letting you expose state to AI tools without allowing control actions. That pairs with P R 185905 redacting schedule coordinates from Teslemetry and Tesla Fleet diagnostics for privacy.…
